South Carolina Practitioners

South Carolina is facing a pet overpopulation crisis, with a surge of stray cats and dogs overwhelming the community. The TNR method is a long-term solution to feral and stray cat overpopulation. However, in South Carolina, only animals adopted from shelters must be spayed or neutered. This problem isn’t improving, despite the tireless efforts of some.
The good news is that significant progress has been made in other states that also faced this challenge.
For example, Massachusetts has seen a profound decrease in its feline overpopulation problem. By implementing TNR and low-cost spay and neuter programs, their numbers have decreased significantly. So much so that they are now coming to South Carolina to help here.
While it is great that Massachusetts is coming here to help save the day, at The Mickey and Mouse Project, we have a vision of SC stepping up to the task and helping its own feline friends.
In Colombia, this is already being done:
This article points out numerous challenges SC faces regarding overpopulation, specifically related to a lack of veterinary care:
“You definitely need community involvement to do TNR. The cats can’t spay and neuter themselves,” Riles said. “If you’re experiencing this within your community, be an active participant and community member and work to get the cats spayed and neutered, because spaying and neutering have proven to decrease numbers…”
However, the problem is too large for local shelters to bear alone. They simply can not, and they need help.
To facilitate this, we are offering numerous benefits to veterinarians who wish to partner with us on our mission because, as much as veterinarians care about animals, they also have a business to run.
We understand this and the need to carefully evaluate every expense. This is why, with our strong board members who have a proven track record of running successful businesses and my marketing expertise, we’ve created a unique opportunity to benefit both our cause and our practices.
